How to Become a Vetted Carrier for Fox Fleet Logistics

A worker in a yellow safety shirt measures the height of a white pickup truck loaded on the upper deck of a GB Cargo car carrier truck. The scene is outdoors on a sunny day.

If you haul vehicles for a living, you already know that not all brokers are worth working with. Some pay slow. Some disappear when a load goes sideways. Some post rates that don’t survive first contact with a real dispatch.

We’d rather tell you exactly what working with us involves and let you decide. Here’s the full picture — requirements, process, and what you can expect.

What we’re looking for

We run a vetted network rather than an open board. That means fewer carriers, more consistent freight, and a higher bar to get in. To qualify, you’ll need:

  • Active operating authority. Valid MC and DOT numbers in active status.
  • Adequate insurance. Auto liability, commercial general liability, and cargo coverage appropriate to the vehicle classes you haul, with Fox Fleet Logistics listed as a certificate holder.
  • An acceptable safety record. We review FMCSA safety ratings and inspection history. We’re not looking for perfection — we’re looking for patterns.
  • Equipment suited to the work. Open haulers, enclosed trailers, flatbeds, or wedge equipment, properly maintained and correctly rated.
  • Communication you can sustain. Reachable during transit, and proactive when something changes.

That last one gets underweighted by carriers and overweighted by us. A driver who calls at 2 PM to say he’s running three hours behind is worth substantially more than one who arrives on time silently and then goes dark on the load that matters.

What you’ll need ready

Having these on hand makes the process fast:

  • MC and DOT numbers
  • Certificate of insurance showing current auto liability, commercial general liability, and cargo coverage
  • W-9
  • Voided check or bank letter, so we know where to send payment
  • Signed carrier packet and agreement
  • Equipment list — types, capacity, and any specialized capability
  • Lanes and regions you actually run

Be accurate about that last item. Telling us you run everywhere when you really run the Midwest doesn’t get you more loads; it gets you offers you’ll decline and a reputation for declining.

The approval process

  • Apply. Submit the carrier application with your basic company information.
  • Verification. We confirm authority, insurance, and safety record through standard industry sources. Usually quick if your paperwork is current.
  • Packet and agreement. You’ll receive the carrier packet to review and sign.
  • Profile setup. We record your equipment, lanes, and preferences so the loads you see are ones you’d actually want.
  • First dispatch. Once you’re approved, you’re eligible for freight matching your profile.

The most common holdup is an expired or insufficient insurance certificate. Check yours before applying and you’ll skip the back-and-forth entirely.

What you can expect from us

Our side of the arrangement:

  • Rates confirmed in writing before dispatch. The number on the rate confirmation is the number you get paid.
  • Complete load information up front. Pickup and delivery details, vehicle condition, access notes, and contacts — before you commit, not after you arrive.
  • A real point of contact. Someone who knows the load and can make a decision.
  • Consistent freight. We work with a smaller carrier group specifically so approved carriers see steady volume rather than occasional scraps.
  • Straight communication when problems come up. Including when the problem is ours.
Fox Fleet Logistics is employee-owned. The people dispatching your loads have a stake in the company, which is a meaningful difference in how these relationships get treated over time.

What we expect from you

  • Accurate condition reporting at pickup and delivery, with photos
  • Proactive updates when timing changes — before the delivery window, not after
  • Insurance kept current, with certificates updated before expiration
  • Professional conduct at customer sites; you’re representing our client relationship
  • Clear communication about capacity, including when you can’t take something

None of that is unusual. It’s just stated plainly so there’s no ambiguity later.

Ready to apply?

If your authority and insurance are current and you haul vehicles professionally, we’d like to talk. The application takes a few minutes and we’ll get back to you promptly.
